Flovent is a corticosteroid. It works by reducing inflammatory reactions in the airways in response to allergens and irritants in the air.It is used to prevent bronchial asthma attacks. It will not treat an asthma attack that has already begun. Flovent can exist in form of Flovent sprayer (nasal) and inhaler.

Directions

Take the medicine only as it was prescribed with proper dose by your doctor. The dose may be different depends on age and type or your asthma. Inhaler should be shaken well before use. In order to get the most medication into the lungs from the inhaled dose, ask your doctor about proper techniques.Keep away from your face and eyes.The advised dose for adults and children over 12 years age is 44 mcg twice a day.The dose for children under 12 years age is two inhalations of Flovent 44 mcg twice a day. Your dosage needs may change if you have surgery, are ill, are under stress, or have recently had an asthma attack.

Precautions

It is important that this medication be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor, as this drug can influence normal growth in children.Continuous using of it may produced osteoporosis, especially if you smoke or if you don't extract enough vitamin D.

Contraindications

You should not use Flovent if you are allergic to fluticasone.Don't take if asthma attack that has already begun.

Possible side effect

The most common side effects: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling, weakness, tired feeling, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; eye pain, or seeing halos around lights; fever, chills, sore throat, ear pain, flu symptoms;wheezing or asthma symptoms.

Drug interactions

Don't take with the aldesleukin and mifepristone.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.An overdose of Flovent is not expected to produce life-threatening symptoms. However, long-term use of high steroid doses can lead to symptoms such as thinning skin, easy bruising, changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.

Missed dose

Use the medication as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and wait until your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Storage
